Legendary and influential band THE DICK SPIKIE are back with a new record after a hiatus, and it is worth the wait! This band has always had a creative approach to Punk, with songs that took influence from UK82, pogo, Oi!, and Streetpunk, and this new record reflects that approach to music.
The first song has a classic 90s punk feel that fits in perfectly with my favorite songs from the band's earliest recordings. It's catchy and melodic, with a great spirit and fun energy that picks up right where the band left off!
The two songs on the second side of this EP take a heavier approach, with shouted vocals, aggressive guitar, more noise, and lots of chaos and attitude, displaying aspects of hardcore influence.
This record is a work of art, which I love to see when a band returns after a break. It's clear they are not going through the motions but rather making a passionate statement—staying true to their early material while also showing some progression and maturation. They are taking THE DICK SPIKIE banner that was forged in the 1990s and planting it firmly in 2025, as punk as it ever has been!
This is great drinking music and a must-listen for fans of Punk!
